Hassan Elminyawi is an undergraduate student at the University at Albany, with a major in Urban Planning and a minor in Geography. He is an Albany resident who loves to ride his bike and walk through urban surroundings, analyzing the various architectural styles of different neighborhoods. Academic interests include Chinese studies, urban studies, GIS and cartography. In his spare time, he loves reading, cycling, cooking and Anime cartoons. Upon graduation from SUNY Albany, Hassan plans on pursuing a master's degree in Architecture or Urban Planning.
Katie Himmelfarb is a graduate student at the University at Albany, completing a master's degree in geography in August 2007. She also attended the University at Albany as an undergraduate, and majored in geography and urban studies and planning. Her academic interests include urban geography, local community development, and Chinese urbanization. Most recently, she has been involved with a project that assesses the urban impacts associated with the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Outside of school, she enjoys traveling, live music, reading, and vegetarian cooking. In the fall she will be continuing her education at Rutgers University, where she will pursue a PhD in planning and public policy.
Crista Livecchi has a BA in anthropology, an MS in criminal justice, and is currently
earning an MA in geography. She is interested in phenomenology, place-making and place
identity, nontraditional places, urban design, and microspaces. She intends to go on
for a PhD in geography and become a professor. She enjoys photography and book repair and
still harbors a tiny dream of becoming a rock star.
Erica Palmisano is from Endicott, NY, which is located near Binghamton, NY.
She received a BS in Geography/Urban and Regional Planning from SUNY Oneonta and a MA
in Geography and a certificate in GIS from SUNY Albany.
The reason geography has captured her interest is because she loves the beauty found within
nature and enjoys traveling. The world is full of many of beautiful and unique places,
the people and the environments make the world so diverse. Despite all the differences
in the world, we are still all connected on planet Earth.
Besides traveling and being a nature enthusiast, she enjoys doing artsy things,
listening to tunes and watching silly movies.
Josh Sisskind is a Master's of Arts student in the Department of Geography concentrating
in Geographic Information Systems. He recently graduated from the University at Albany
with a B.A. in Geography and Broadcast Meteorology. His academic interests include GIS,
Information Science, which combined become spatial information systems. In his spare time,
Josh is an avid sports and movie watcher and loves to be outside...preferably near a lake.
